The Thabet Group, one of the largest business houses in Yemen owes its origin to the enterprise of Mr Abdo Thabet who in 1925, started a business of bunkering ships in Aden. This company rapidly developed into a conglomerate with major activities in stevedoring, clearing and forwarding service. Responsibility for growing the business was taken over from their father in 1956 by the next generation Thabet brothers. The Thabet brothers established their business base at Hodeidah in 1969. The Thabet Group's philosophy that a country or company draws its strength and quality from the caliber of its people is reflected in practical terms by the care taken of employees at all levels. Great emphasis is also placed on the training of Yemeni nationals to cater for the Group's present requirements and future growth. The Thabet group has also contributed to the society like establishing schools as well as modern hospital.

SAICO, a Saudi joint stock company, was established on the basis of a Royal Decree No. M/60 dated 18/09/1427H (11/10/2006) and Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 233 dated 16/09/1427H. It chose Riyadh to be the Head Office location. In the year 2010 the company obtained SAMA's approval to market insurance products.

Yemen General Insurance Co. (YGI)has endeavoured and obtained the ISO 9001-2000 in 2005 and ISO 9001-2008 in 2010 to 2015. We are the first Company in Yemen that certified with new ISO 9001-2015 in Feb.2017. We belive in developing work procedures to guarantee customers services in accordance with YGI's objectives in the continual improvement of staff skills and competencies to enhance customers satisfaction and trust in the company insurance services.
